Travelling Abroad During the Pandemic? Avoid These 8 Mistakes

July 12, 2021

Travel restrictions are getting eased in certain countries. Some are even on the road to getting Corona free soon. In these times, you can think of travelling abroad for work or a refreshing holiday. But we all know that it's not going to be the same.

Here are 8 common mistakes people make while travelling during the pandemic. We hope that after going through this list, you will be cautious enough not to commit them.

1. Trying to Cover Maximum Countries

You might want to compensate for such a long time without travelling. However, it is not wise to try to cover the maximum countries in your travel itinerary. Reason being that these are unpredictable times. You want to relax and enjoy your trip rather than dealing with changing corona guidelines of countries.

2. Choosing Destination Without Much Thinking

It's not the time to choose a destination just because you like it. Carefully study the corona safety guidelines of your destination country. Also, what protocols your country is going to follow with you once you return from there. Finalise on a destination only when you find everything convenient.

3. Not Enquiring About Cancellation Policies

Travelling abroad is as such expensive. You don't want to add the additional cost of cancellation and change of dates to it. But you might need to do it according to the spread of Covid-19. Thus, inquire about the refund policy of your airline and accommodation facility.

4. Not Checking COVID-19 Precautions at Accommodation

It's wise to stay only in a hotel or Airbnb accommodation that is undertaking all Covid-safety norms. Call them to ask about that before booking. Enquire about the changes in kitchen rules, pool rules, and room service to ensure extra hygiene and guest's safety.

5. Not Getting Tested for COVID-19

Most airlines and countries demand a negative corona test done before 72 hours. Even if your airline or destination country is not asking for it, you must get tested before flying. You never know when the guidelines can change. Keep several photocopies of your test result with you.

6. Not Carrying Extra PPE

Even if you think you will only stay for a few days, it's always good to carry extra PPE with you. PPEs like masks, gloves, sanitizers, and face shields don't take much space in your luggage. Also, take some homemade snacks with you to avoid eating out at crowded airports.

7. Not Eating Healthy & Drinking Enough Water

You want to take liberty with your diet and eat local cuisine. But let us remind you that your body can fight any virus or infection when you eat healthy food. So eat nutritious food and keep yourself hydrated.

8. Not Being Environment-friendly

While travelling during the pandemic, you are creating hazards for the environment unintentionally. Your PPEs are increasing the waste. Your flights run at low capacity creating your carbon footprints. Therefore try to opt for reusable PPEs. Dump your trash in bins only and donate to organizations working to reduce CO2 emissions.

Wrapping Up!

Take a travel loan before leaving is also a good idea. It can be helpful in case you face any emergency while travelling abroad.
